HACC Forum

Next Steps from the HACC National Forum 2008 on Promoting Independence

Officials from all jurisdictions discussed the Forum and the information presented at meetings on 28 February 2008. They are very interested in the information presented and in working through what it means for how services are focused and funded into the future.

All jurisdictions agree that the Forum met its primary objectives, which were:
- to provide a valuable opportunity for a range of stakeholders to gain a common understanding of the argument for wellness, capacity building and restorative approaches and
- to broadly consider the implementation implications of incorporating this approach into HACC service delivery.

There is no formal commitment to a policy of implementing a wellness approach nationally at this stage. However all jurisdictions are considering how the approaches discussed at the forum can be applied to the services they fund.
